Five days after retiring, Dale was guiding on the Kenai and now the Nushagak River. In high school, salmon and steelhead became the species Dale focused on, often fishing before or after school.ĭuring those years, a desire to fish Alaska waters kept nagging at Dale and it never went away. Dale began fishing the local streams east of Portland as soon as he could hold a rod, mostly targeting trout. He retired from firefighting in 2011 which allowed him to begin guiding full time.
